Why Do Small Dogs Bark at Big Dogs?

It’s not just “small dog syndrome.” Most little pups bark at bigger dogs out of nerves, not ego.

In dog world, being tiny means you have to speak loud to be noticed. Barking is their way of saying, “I see you—don’t step on me!”

At our partner shelter, smaller dogs are usually separated from larger dogs, but sometimes when they do encounter, oh boy, it’s a scene.

But of course, they calm down after a while once they know they’re safe.

They’re not being rude — just trying to survive in a world that once felt too big.
