The Night She Slept Beside 50 Dogs 💤

Sister Ling started rescuing dogs 25 years ago, and by the fifteenth year, she had nothing left.
No house. No job. No savings.

She sold her home, her car, everything she owned just to keep feeding the dogs she’d already saved.

For a while, she lived in an abandoned parking lot, sleeping on a thin mat beside fifty trembling, half-starved dogs. The nights were loud and cold — barking, wind, the sound of chains clinking but she never left.

Later, one of the earliest volunteers, Qiqi, heard her story. She came to visit, then never really left either. Over the years, Qiqi personally put in more than ¥5 million CNY (≈ $700,000 USD) of her own money — building what the shelter is today: grass lawns, 300+ dogs fed twice a day, clean kennels, even playgrounds.

But personal contributions aren’t sustainable. In one of our earlier articles, we talked about how charity was unsustainable for our partner shelter. Because in reality, you either pay the bills, or you’re out. The landlords and the electricity company can’t wait for your next video to go viral for donations.

That’s why we built PawliBar after hearing from Qiqi and Sis.Ling about their stories. We wanted a way to turn love into something that lasts, a way to fund the daily costs that never stop coming.
